Scheduled to open between 2028 and 2029, the upcoming integrated terminal at Auckland Domestic Airport marks a significant milestone, uniting domestic and international travel under the same roof for the first time since 1977. The expansion, situated at the eastern end of the existing international terminal building, encompasses a new integrated domestic terminal, border processing expansion, a fresh international arrivals area, enhanced retail and food court spaces, amenities, Strata Lounge, and an additional 12 domestic gates. The combined terminal is designed to facilitate a seamless five-minute transfer between the domestic and international areas.
In this project, my involvement spanned from the design concept phase through the detailed documentation stage. While I played a key role in the material selection, specialty room design, gate portals, lighting, and feature ceiling design, my contributions also extended to team management. I took part in ensuring that documentation drawings adhered to the highest standards, emphasizing precision and clarity.
